My question to you is, have anyone actually TRIED the amp?

Now, I know that this lowbudget thing isn't anything like the originals, but that's not my question. Have anyone tried it, and how was it?

I'm offered a new one at the price of a ASHDOWN MAG 300H. Could this maxwatt amp compete with that one, or is it just total garbage?

I've searched the internet, but I couldn't find anything of value. cmon, someone must have seen one.

The place was really jumpin' to the Hiwatt amps till a twenty inch cymbal fell and cut the lamps.

I'm a gigantic Who fan. I've never heard that amp but it looks INCREDIBLE to me. I'd buy it on looks alone.

I've seen those, but never heard one. Nor do I know anyone who has. Considering where the Maxwatts are made, and, more importantly, how much they cost, I wouldn't expect it to be a quality amplifier, I'm afraid.

There is only one way to find out mate, find one and trash it to within an inch of its life, I am a bit of a purist for the old sort but if it sounds ok fine.

I'm sure they're both fine amps. The Ashdown looked great 10 years ago, but looks dated IMO today. The Hiwatt looks like a million bucks. I'm sure they are both perfectly capable tonewise.

I'd guess that they are made in China - and I'm not saying that everything made there is low quality or anything - and they cost about €350 in these parts (and highly resemble some OEM amps that I've seen).

The Maxwatts do look quite sharp though.

They could well be. But then again, the cheaper Ashdowns don't have the best of track records. I hope that the Maxwatts are better, as in more reliable.

So am I, to be honest. But, compare the looks of the Maxwatt with this amp from JJ Labs:

Something tells me that the similarities aren't coincidences (OEM amps from the same factory? Well, probably). And as I've never really heard any positive comments about JJ Labs' bass amps, I'm having some doubts about the Maxwatts too. Wish I didn't, 'cause I like Hiwatt.

Nah - they're completely different. The JJ Labs amp has white knobs.

I must admit it's a bit scary with the jjlabs comparison, as I haven't heard a good word about them; and they sure look similar.

Well I guess I'll drag my ass down to the shop and try them out, seems to be the only way. Both the mag300 and the maxwatt is made in china right? I guess it'll just come down to the sound then...

I'm buying this amp soon it is awesome, you can wrench any tone out of as I love the slap tone and super clean tone.

I now have the Maxxwatt B412 cab that goes with a Maxxwatt B300. Anyone allready owns such a head? How do you like it?

Either Hiwatt stopped making these or only made a few in the first place (vapourware?). I've seen a B412 cab, but never the head, even in Hiwatt dealers.

I own the Maxwatt B100 combo. I have to say it´s a bomb. It's so loud and clear ! It's great. I cómpared side by side with some GK 200W combo, and it kicked it's a**.
I bet the B300 is similar, but louder..
