HL2 IS GOLD!

I was a big TFC nerd when I played. I started a 5v5 league, did a lot of radio stuff (when TFC went to CPL a couple of times) and clanned for several years. It was the best mod for HL.

I haven't played at all for well over a year now, and if I ever do play, it's CS. I don't need much practice to be decent at it and I still have admin on a whole lot of CS servers.

STA 5vs5. Me and a guy named Damion started it. Started the whole trend with TFL and IGL following suit (though I think IGL had one way back in the day that didn't work out). I was also a co-admin of the entire Stronger than All league and I had a lovely failed attempt to start a Delta Force 2 league. I later worked for CAL as a TFC disputes admin.

I used to go by SecretAgentNate or San

Lastly I was the Operations Manager of the Gaming Broadcast Company. I really got into internet radio and after I was done with it everything fizzled.

Oh man, I've hella seen your name around before. That's pretty cool man, though I wouldn't want the stress of trying to keep one of those leagues going. 5v5 was a good deal, never played it myself though. I actually only clanned a few years back when all the leagues (OGL, STA) were 8v8. Good times. I still visit the catacombs to this day and read up on all the drama, haha.

Yeah, I'm pretty tired of all that stuff. After 8v8 went to 9v9 it got pretty lame (5D with spam and so many cheaters). 5v5 got me back into it for a while. I ended up doing more broadcasting than anything and slowly moving to CS. Then my band started taking off and I had something much better to do with my time :P

What name did you go by and what clans were you in? My first clan was TFF, then it was FOoM, uZ, and finally /tmp/ which retired as a clan with me in it. I still visit my old tmp buddies as they all live on the west coast and are the nicest gamers I've ever met.

natrab - I was never in any clans that did any good, haha. I was in dL(demon legion) waaay back in the day (like '99), which you've prolly never heard of, and KoR for awhile after that, as well as some really crappy clans not even worth mentioning. We were in OGL and STA and TTT(i think that was the name, remember that league?) and we sucked. I never had the time to commit to getting to 'gold' status as a player, so I mostly just played for fun. Which I did have a blast clanning, we lost most of our games but I still had a great time. I miss that aspect of the game, and after the leagues went from 8 to 9 players in a match I stopped playing. Like you said, too much turtling going on with the D and WAY too much cheating. I just went back to pubbing after that.

Fiend - that mod looks pretty sweet. Looks like you're a big fan of Dawn of the Dead. :)

I remember dL and KoR. That was when I was in TFF and we were in the top ten on OGL. Then Wolf disbanded and along came Zt, and good ol MassacrE (who I've had plenty of personal dealings with, and wish I hadn't). After that the cheating became obvious in many of the top clans: Zt, KoD, etc.

It actually got pretty good again about two years ago but it's been downhill from there. The games been dulled down by valve and the cheating is horrific.

I'll probably get HL2 for the hell of it. I haven't played anything in over a year though.

Hahaha, I forgot about Massacre, that whole situation with him was so funny. I just remember the 30 page long threads on cats regarding him and how he kept constantly popping up under random aliases. The cheating really killed the game for me though, and none of the anti-cheat programs worked that well. It's too bad, but I'll definitely be buying HL2, if only to see if the game was really worth the 6 years it took them.

Hey, let's play some TF2 :D

I still find myself going back to the original Unreal Tournament, before the UT2k rebuild "fixed" it. There's something about running around those little maps as Homer in his tighty whities fragging topless Asia Carreras that is still a ton of fun. Most of the newer games have way too steep a learning curve for me to waste my time on.

I love that game. Simple, fast-paced awesomeness.
