hmmm( classic rock Peavey content)

i'm seeing huge stacks of Peavey speaker cabs and what appears to be Peavey branded heads stacked upon them in SRV and Skynyrd vids on you-tube,,yes i realise`that's all they had back then' etc etc. but i'm curious as to what the heads were?

i'm all about going small class D power like an svt 7 pro(for instance:cool: multiple 2/10 cabs, something along those lines, however,if i was to stumble upon some old school Peavey gear it would be worth it to play with it this IS winter knocking on my door out there:crying:,keep searching for peavey heads on eBay,not seeing much tubular type BASS heads(i guess ya'll are hoarding yours?:D;)

I'm not sure what you mean, If you are looking for vintage Peaveys, they are all around. I'm in the market for a Mark IV myself. :D

Festival F800B (or something like that).

Does it look like this one?

BTW, back then we had SVTs and Sunn Coliseums and Acoustic 370s too (among others).

Love those old Peavey heads.

I have a Mark VI. It's 'that' head that i forget about for a while, and then get SUPER happy when i play through it again. At one practice spot, i also use a Mark III.

I would LOVE an F-800b someday.

I played out of one of these this past weekend: Invalid Link Removed

Sounded AWESOME through an old Sunn 2x15.

FWIW, there's a couple of Peavey Mark series bass heads on craigslist Dallas, right now.

There's one for $125, then another older one for $140.

Neither are mine, just sayin', maybe someone here can pick one up on the cheap.

The had a Festival bass head at atomic in Beltsville. Its might still be there.

OPINION...

Out of all of them, I'd be really considering some of the later Marks..

Why -- same concept.. modern bells and whistles (graphic eq... compressor.. ddt.. chorus.. crossover)

A good number of these will facilitate 2 ohms without any fans (for stage noise freaks).

Many of the SS guitar heads of this vintage have the very close specs.. guitar guys do not clammor over them.

What I'm noting is the basic guts of the guitar and bass are VERY close relatives..

Bass guys understand them.

I'd keep an eye open for a guitar head of the same era.. solid state.

I gigged for years playing a Reknown (2x12 160w) guitar amp.. blew my huge gear out of the water. Zero issues (except too loud)

I've owned all of the Mark series bass heads at one time or another, and IME the MarkVI is the best sounding of the bunch - plenty of power, too...

Just cleaned this up and fired her up today. She has been in climate controlled storage @ our studio and only used a handful of times. In perfect working order in immaculate condition. She's for sale as well. I need to post her in the AMPS for sale section. I am the original owner and take exsquisite care of my equipment. This setup consists of a 3620 bass enclosure, a powered BH500 2X10 for biamping the 10" scorpions, and a Mark IV head to power the Black Widow 18's. Awesome sound, crazy loud! See pics at
