HoBocaster (Junkyard Dog)

The tailpiece bugged me. It was serviceable, but I knew it could be improved, so....

I made a small, but in my mind, important upgrade.

I rethought the tailpiece. I got rid of the steel wires and attached a belt buckle between the hinge and the string guide that I had fabricated. This accomplished a few things :

1) It stabilized the bass. Better tuning stability, since the tailpiece won't shift at all
2) It exerts more downward pressure on the bridge, which helps tension and tone
3) It looks cooler IMO :)

Anyway, pics with the upgraded tailpiece -

I would've painted the headstock silver, but that's just me

I haven't yet because of a couple reasons :

1) I ran out of adhesive (I'll be doing it in aged tin, like the body)
2) I wanted to get it "up and running" and worry about the headstock later.

I'm also getting a dog tag made for the serial number (and probably the bass name)

:)

Got any of the sign left for a faceplate on the headstock?

The faceplate will be done in aged tin like the body, but I ran out of adhesive. I need to attach it with both adhesive and screws to keep it secure.

I'll also be getting two dog tags. One for the "logo/name" on the headstock, the other will have the serial number, and will go on the side of the bass just below the neck.

:)
