These strings will fit. Many Hofner players use them. They just fit. I've used them myself.

The T-I Jazz flats 32 inch, set of 4 strings are beautiful strings on a Hofner. They, and the Pyramid short scale flats, are the best, in my opinion.

Congratulations on getting the Ignition. With first class strings on it it should sound fabulous, and classic.

Thanks ) I got the confidence to try them and thickest string was the only one not perfectly fitting as it is .106 but with a little bit of force I was able to put in its place.. It doesn't seem to matter that the G and E strings were too long it plays fine now. And much more solid feel than with the originals, no more rattling noise when I not so perfectly play

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with this Ignition bass, I had gotten the impression that it might feel like bad quality but from the first impression, it is beautiful!

Anyone here own a German made Hofner Club bass LTD with Cavern spacing for the PUs? Does that do anything for the tone, or does it just look cool? I may get one. MF will be getting some in stock in a few months, so time to start saving.

Mine should be arriving in about 2 weeks. Super excited.

I have seen so many clips of folks playing club basses (and violin basses) that I just had to throw my ring into the hat and purchase one. The woody thump tone is just awesome IMHO on some of the music by Air, Wilco, and so many others. Plus, they just look so cool and unique.

I had the chance to play one about a month ago, and the neck was so comfortable. It was the first short scale bass I ever played (usually a 34" 5-ER guy) and it was quite a departure from the norm.

Got a club bass recently. I like the bass. I put a set of Pyramid Gold flats on it. The output on the e string from f# up to about b is wanting. I figured if i raised the neck pickup just a bit at the e string side it would help. Pick up does not adjust in a standard way but uses a hokey set screw arrangement which is useless. Any insites from anyone. I thought about putting the roundwound back on that came with the bass , but that would be pointless.

Loosen the set screws just enough to be able to move the pickup up. You'll want it to be dragging on the screws, so you move it, not it jumping to wherever it wants to go. It's also possible that the E string is dead. How's the tone above B?

Not yet. It's supposed to arrive at the shop (in Chicago) this week, and then ship out to me. I asked the folks there to give it a once over before sending it my way as well. So, hoping for mid-next week.

Hey, do any of you have multiple Hofners?
I'd be interested in hearing how you all rotate your basses.

When it's rains I will definitely grab a CT (Club or 500/1) to schlep out in the elements. I use my German Club when I don't want the weight of either CT.
I do need to adjust my amp to compensate for the different tonal qualities of each, but it's not that big a big deal.

I've got a small stable of Hof basses (and one lower end acoustic guitar). My main three Beatle basses all sound similar, but different enough to use in different situations.

Oddly enough, I've been favoring my prototype CT 500/1 lately. I guess it's because of the strings I currently have on there. I've always wanted to try a set of those black nylon tape wounds...so, I finally did and put 'em on that one. But, many times, I'll use my old German made model, too. Usually there's no rhyme or reason why I'll use one, instead of the other, though.

I also have a CT 185 Artist bass, which is basically a P bass copy. I've been using that one live (as well as my practice bass in my room) for certain more modern sounding songs in my band's set list. It's the only bass I have that has round rounds. I wanted something that wasn't flat for a change. Rounds are 'different' to me, actually. I'm so used to flats..I put 'em on everything. I put flats on my peanut butter, too.

Here is my red Hofner HCT 500/1 along with my Brice Violin copy. Both are real nice basses. The Hofner is strung with LaBella flats and the Brice has D'Addario half-rounds. Both work real well on each.
