I got one of the ltd edition contempory basses. #7 of '60.
The back and sides are blue and the serial numbers go 101 to 160. so mines #107.
I've put tea cups on it.

It looks better without the pickguard and is now strung with La Bella flats.

it's a great sounding bass

I'd love to get myself one of those, too - but, I think I'd prefer the German version, with the natural back and sides.

Also, they're about to release (world wide, instead of just Japan) the CT and Ignition versions of the Cavern bass.

Just more to my list of things that I want but, can not have--yet.

the German version was very expensive and they then released another bunch to the USA. but at £3000 it was too much for me. But I love my Jubilee so much I am looking to get a proper German one.

I'm the proud owner of a brand new Ignition Violin bass. Haven't had a decent chance to plug it in and jam but I am very excited. I bought it from Mandolin Bros.(took your advice Pimpernel & thank you) on Staten Island today after work and the only thing I need to do is change the strings. At Mandolin Bros., they have a German made 500/1 with factory flat wound strings and It blew me away. I've found much information about strings that work best with this bass but I still cannot decide between the four major brands that are most popular here and on the Hofnerhounds forum.

My two biggest concerns are buying the wrong strings and/or buying a set from Pyramid. I understand that the Pyramid strings can break upon installation and I have heard about other strings that do not fit because they are too short or too long. Any advice here would be appreciated.

I use La Bella flats. specifically design for the Hofner bass. I think they are the 706FHBB

50-100 gauge. They're great

Interesting how every non name-brand guitar/bass, vintage or new, is now a "Law Suit" model. I may be all wet, but I thought the "Law Suit" instrument was an Ibanez 'Les Paul' copy, from the '70s.
The guy can't even spell Beetle!

I'm not sure cause I bought the bass used and it came with this strings but when I'm compate with the regular Crome set I've got on another bass the TI's are lighter (thinner) so probably its a .096 E
(the red silk doesn't go past the E stringpost though Which it does on A.D G)

Just received my new long scale 185 in white, just played with it for 15 minutes and I like it very much.
I wasn't sure but after reading a bit I ordered it the other day.
I can't belive this is only 145€ you get a good bass for the price.
Sounds great with my 4x10" cab.

I disagree, I think a pickguard would look great on that bass. Just maybe not Pearloid?

Hi everybody!

when I play my '79 hofner 500/1 UNplugged I can hear what I guess are springs from the pickups vibrating or sort of rattling slightly (the noise definitely comes from the pickups). does anyone know if this is quite normal? it's got blade pickups.

wondering if someone could shed some light on this, it's not that big of an issue but nevertheless...

a lot of times, ya can hear the rattling of the pickguard, when being played, which is not a big deal at all.

But, if you're sure it's the pickups rattling, ya might wanna take it to a tech, just in case to see if anything is up with it.
