Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

I had exceptional service from Norman's. He told me (three weeks ago) that I was buying their last hard case for the Ignition. Don't worry: there's no way they'd ship it to you without a box. Mine came inside the hard case and then super-well packed with bubble wrap inside a tight-fitting heavy cardboard box. They take care of you at Norman's. No I'm not affiliated -- I'd never heard of them before May 5.
How much did you pay for it including the case?
They sold it to me, just the bass with no case no nothing for $271.
Ferrante, that's about what I paid. It's the lowest I've seen anywhere in the world. (Don't tell Norman's that!)
Go get that hard case. You should be able to find a brand new one for $60 shipment included if you look for a few days. Don't keep that little beauty naked out in the cruel world.

Got my new Hofner Icon Club Bass a couple of weeks ago and finally got the Labella Flats 50-100 today....put them on and set it up and went to a jam tonight.....got to say this bass sure brought a lot of lookers and questions and it REALLY sounded FANTASTIC.......and it's so easy to play...I love the small neck and the low weight...when I first got it I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep it, those rounds sure don't do it justice.....but now it's my favorite bass, even over a $2600 custom bass....I still have to find a case for it, hopefully soon before something bad happens to it since I'm going to be playing it at jams, etc.....and those Labella Deep Talking Flats are just so thumpy and "good".....must say I had a bit of trouble fitting the .100 E string in the floating bridge and so far I haven't had to touch the trussrod but I'll give it a better set up tomorrow....I just set it up quickly so I could do the jam for tonight.....I'm going to try to lower the action a bit but it plays in tune all the way up the neck so that makes me happy.....so I'm selling my Dillion Beatle Bass if anyone is interested....I prefer the Club body dynamics
loopee, I was talking about a case for the Icon/Ignition violin body bass. I've seen them for $60. I can't remember where now, but I just ran a few laps around the Internet and they popped up.
It won't work for your club. You need one for that shape. I've never looked for these, but I'd be surprised if they're not easy to find for under $100.
Depending on what you plan to do with the bass, the entry-level hard case should be fine. Mine is perfectly sized and well padded inside, but relatively cheap. It lacks the metal taps to protect the black covering from scratches. I would not want to bang it around. But I figure I'll keep it a few years and when it starts to get dinged up, I'll spring for a $150 deluxe hard case.
If you can live with reshaping the neck cradle (too tall, by bout an inch, but made of styrofoam, so you remove it and cut it back) this case works fine with a violin-shaped bass:

If it's a Club bass that requires a case, that's a different matter. Good luck with that one, the only ones I've seen f/s are in Europe.

As you know I'm not a member of this club (well, wannabe). But I think no one has posted something about the following in the recent days so I wanted to put it out to opinions.

For those who are interested;
I took my Hofner shortscale Galaxie/Galaxy to band practice and it held up quite well against 2 guitars, especially when we jammed a bit without any effects or distortion. The bridge pickup sat nice in the mix kinda like a jazz bass altho the neck pickup kinda got drowned out. I had the amp settings all at twelve o'clock and all of the whistles and bells like enhance and compression turned off.
The light weight and short scale didn't take very long getting used to, and I noticed that I had energy left for pulling of some extra notes here and there and was less tired/sweaty at the ending. But I felt the stronger rocksongs with more straightforward simple basslines demanded a more heavier/larger bass, so that I would have to work harder for the notes. Maybe it sounds crazy and I guess it's just a matter of mindstate but that was how I felt. But maybe this is applicable to all who are new to shortscale basses.
Also before I went to practice I compared the Galaxie with my Squier VM Precision and the latter had a little higher output and sounded more bassy overall. But the Galaxie delivered plenty of bass during the practicesession. So overall a pretty cool performing bass with a nice sound!

Looks like there will be a limited edition version of the Hofner CT in this finish.
McCartney's is NOT a CT but a V62, probably painted at the Hofner Custom Shop.

I'd say yes. It looks like Sir Paul ordered this new wonder to the Höfner factory for these London events.
I just can't stop seeing the picture. It is gorgeous.
It also reminds me of Noel Gallagher's Gibson/Epiphone Supernova.
So far it seems these Hofner CT basses with the Union Jack finish are for the British market only.

Even at that price, they still think it's going to sell out in a week. With the run set to 60 bases, the collectors/investors alone may gobble up all of them.
Yes, it's for a CLUB bass and they are impossible to find and even more so in Canada.......there are supposed to be some coming out in Oct or thereabouts but I'll have to purchase it from the US and that's going to cost me to have it shipped to Cda.....Might end up costing me $150 for and $80 case from the US.......nobody sells Hofner out here (BC)....I tried the case I have for my violin bass but it won't fit as the club is larger across.........so I'm putting it in a gig bag now but I have to be really careful with it.....not much padding at all.....

big ol' Epiphone logo on it, but whoever makes cases for Epi makes pretty good ones. If it fits, could be the answer for Club owners..just sayin...
