Jack Daley played a Hofner club with Lenny Kravitz, probably could find some live vids on youtube. Tina Weymouth with talking heads, just search youtube for live shows.

to be honest most are into the violin bass because of McCartney, which makes sense, he popularized them and is the most famous player.

I believe Tom Petty used a Club bass on all his solo stuff. Curt Smith also uses a Club bass, but I am not sure what recordings he has used it on.

Dale Davis with Amy Winehouse did most of his recording on a Club although on stage he usually appeared with a Violin.
For recording, he said in an interview:
"I use a Marshall VBA head and a 4x12 cabinet, some Mesa Engineering gear and an old Ashdown amp too. I take two basses with me: a Lakland Decade and a Höfner Club. I don't generally have a preference for strings: I've never changed the flat-wounds on my Höfner, I like the sound of things getting old."

Wikipedia cites Tina Weymouth as a user: what are some Talking Heads songs that use one? (I'm not very familiar with them and I've read that she used a variety of basses.)

Check out the Talking Heads movie "Stop Making Sense". It's an excellent concert film, and Tina uses a Club bass for most of the songs.

I have to agree. I think the real differences are between the standard spacing and the Cavern spacing. Also between the hollow body models and the HCT models.

Tom Petersson of Cheap Trick has a custom Club with 3 pickups. You could buy one of his signature custom shop models on Sweetwater for only $3000 a few years ago.

Ooh, I love some Cheap Trick (although there is also a lot I'm less keen on or haven't even listened to). Do you know if he ever recorded with it?

I've now gone back to using my '64 500/1 as my main playing bass again the pencil thin neck, just feels better in my hand & easier on my fingers which I've been having issues with recently.

Thought I would ask about this as I was really curious: back in December I bought my first Hofner, an Ignition Beatle Bass Pro Edition and what really compelled me to make the purchase was that it came with flats (Hofner's inhouse brand, not too bad so I'm not in a hurry to change them) but also teacup knobs! That latter was real surprising because I'd been trained to view the Ignition series as mostly having the black knobs and black switches, and the only times I'd seen different was on the Special Editions or the HCT's.

A month on because I'm still trying to find out as much as I can about the bass, I'm wondering if the Hi-BB-PE is meant to be a replacement for the standard Ignition, looking slightly more impressive with the teacup knobs, or (as I'd seen one poster say a few years ago) the PE is meant to be an import only bass and not a wide replacement for the standard Ignition.
