Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

Just got this from North Coast Music and after stringing it with Pyramid Gold flats, I'm now ready to enjoy playing some early Beatles tunes! :bassist:

I just got a used black Hofner HCT 500/1. I love the sound, look, weight, balance (no neck dive), and build quality. And I may become a total short-scale convert. Apparently, this is the bass I never knew I wanted (although I've always liked the look).

I briefly tried it at the local music store maybe a month ago, and it just felt weird. But a week or so ago I decided to give it a real go, and once I accepted it the bass on its own terms (instead of comparing it to a long-scale solid body), it started to click. Now I can't stop playing it.

It's funny, I think I like the look of the sunburst ones best without the pickguard, but I think the black looks better with the guard. I took it off last night just to see, and it the control panel looked a bit like it was floating in a sea of black.

NBD!!! Hofner 500/1 V62.
I got so caught up in playing it, I completely forgot to post about it. I've been on the prowl for one of these for YEARS. For a while a Rickenbacker was my Grail bass until I realized I was very happy with Hofners. I started playing on an icon and then eventually upgraded to a contemporary. I've finally fulfilled my childhood dream of owning a German Hofner. It has since replaced the CT as my number one.
Fortunately I was able to get it at a great price because of a headstock break repair. I want to give a special shoutout and thank you to @FranF who steared me in the right direction regarding what questions to ask and ultimately giving me the advice that lead me to purchase this bass.
Here's a photo from about a month or two ago, since then it's already getting some wear in the nitro. I could write 15 pages extolling the virtues of this bass and what I love about it but we all know what makes our Hofners special.

Here's the V62 with the modded CT:

I'm going to take some more photos eventually and try to post a more detailed description. All I can say is this bass is perfect in every way, it vastly exceeded my expectation and I'm extremely happy about it. And Fran, you have no idea how much I appreciate the help, so cheers to you!

guten tag Hofner club members.
you're a pretty quiet group, that's ok with me.
I'm in the market for a cavern-spaced Hofner (will consider any model with that spacing).
Just start a convo with me if any of you are thinking of selling one, or know anyone who might be.
thanks in advance

This is the sort of thing that makes TB so great. I have never seen a Hofner with a body switch higher up by the neck with the unusual control panel and guards. Guess I need to get out more often. I did a search of the 5000/1 B model Ivan mentioned and sure enough there were other examples. Very cool piece here. Beautiful natural finish too.

It's a total grail bass.

2012 Sunburst Hofner Contemporary Beatle Bass (500/1) with no pickguard & it's no only my favorite Hofner ever (most versatile) & my favorite short scale bass, but, it remains my favorite bass period (& I own a Rickenbacker, a few Fenders & a Danelectro)... Absolutely Love Hofners! Most especially the Beatle Bass 500/1 Contemporary!!

Please feel free to post pictures if you have them. We like that sort of thing around here.
