Technically, yes it should protect the finish, since I have scratched where the bridge it from knocking it out of place once. It doesn't look good though and would probably make the bridge more likely to slip out of place, messing with the already finicky intonation. My advice is to get rid of it.When I received my Ignition Club a few months back, it had strip of foam sheet material under the bridge. I don't like the way it looks, but read somewhere that it helps protect the finish. Thoughts?
That foam is just to protect during shipping. It isn't intended to stay on the bass. When I received my Ignition Club a few months back, it had strip of foam sheet material under the bridge. I don't like the way it looks, but read somewhere that it helps protect the finish. Thoughts?
I finally bought pyramids to replace my TI's on my modded CT. I gave them a month and regardless of how hard I tried, I couldn't jive with them.
The sound was too zingy and although it deadened significantly on the month they were on it still didn't sound right. My friends even commented that they weren't "my sound."
Finally I switched back to the pyramids and instantly my bass came alive again. The sound was back. I thought since they came stock on the German Hofners it would make my CT sound closer to that, but the overtones and treble were too much. My guess is that they work well with a fully hollow body and not with the sound block. 70 dollars later, I now have my sound back and am going try to find a use for the strings.
Fran, I remember you saying you preferred TI's on a Hofner as well; totally spot on.

Best comparison I can provide you with is the the icon's beck profile is noticeably slimmer than the contemporary and German ones. When I first switched from icon to CT, I was shocked by the chunky was is the neck but quickly became infatuated with the thicker profile.Anyone have neck profile measurements for an Ignition Club bass?
Awesome. Thanks for the info. I just found neck profile measurements on GC's website. 21mm at first fret. 22mm at heel for Ignition. Nothing on CT. Any idea what the fretboard radius is?Best comparison I can provide you with is the the icon's beck profile is noticeably slimmer than the contemporary and German ones. I agree - I couldn't find them on Hofner's website, but lo and behold there it is on Reverb! The new double cut club is a total dream bass.
Yep! I have TIs on 20 basses, 12 of them are Hofners.... ;-)I finally bought pyramids to replace my TI's on my modded CT. I gave them a month and regardless of how hard I tried, I couldn't jive with them.

Most likely legit. I've seen them before. And truth told, nobody would ever fake a Deluxe or Super....no point!Does this headstock look off to anybody? like a refinish? Did they ever make a super beatle without the words hofner on it?
