Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

I just got the green one last week, so I'm up to five now. The green one is an Ignition and the goal is the defret it so I can two fretless Hofners.
Just saw this on Reverb, if anyone is interested. Seems like a pretty good price for Contemporary Club

Decided to do a makeover of my bass, what do you think?
just kidding, it does look similar though. violin fine tuners? What? That top probably has a bulge the size of John Holmes's by now. Guess they never heard of short scale strings either. Looks like a .110 E or something, absurd. Even though not into pickguards, I do like that one, do they sell those?
If you guys haven't seen this, it's probably the best version, the holy grail of hofners. It sounds unbelievable, so jealous. Although might be because of picking. Believe it or not, in the ten years I have had my bass, never once took a pick to it. Don't even own a pick. But might have to try it now.

Those Schaller tuners look hideous on that bass. Their 12:1 ratio isn't any better than the stock ratio either.
yep, but I will say i do like the look of the bass otherwise, however dumb it is to do that to it. No tailpiece looks pretty cool and I like the pickguard/finish combo. I'd like to get one, but don't see any for sale. Can you just paint them?
Everything about those mods is just sooo wrong. Body bulge, intonation, neck dive and can't even wind the bloody strings on properly. It can't be playable surely.
I cracked yet another rear pickup ring! I wish they’d make these out of aluminum for durability’s sake. Maybe as an aftermarket mod.
Anyway, I’ve got another one coming in the mail (along with a blank Hofner nut for my rick) from Pick of the Ricks. But in meantime I came up with a fun solution. Tape them together and make a super-cavern. Honesty sounds really good!
Very unique; I dig it (minus those tuners!).
Over-all I like the look of it without the tailpiece, the fine-tuners look cool but I doubt they do anything, especially with that bridge situation.
That’s a great setup. Probably sounds just as good as it looks!
As far a as I know, the ‘58 Reissue is constructed in the same manner as other German made 500/1’s aside from the flat back. It does sound different due to the cavern spaced Black Bar pickups.
I’ve heard flatback upright basses are significantly louder than roundback ones; would that be the same case with the V58? Louder acoustically than the roundback Hofners?
Nope! Not at all! This is actually just a temporary conversion while waiting for parts in the mail. But I’ve gone a cavern CT conversion and I recommend it fully. Even on your Mersey, strongly recommended and encouraged!
Hello everyone! I'm new to this thread and absolutely love all the pictures you guys send of all the different Hofner's. I'm currently in the market for a Hofner 500/1 Contemporary violin bass. Preferable a lighter burst color and in good condition. Somewhere below $800 preferably. If you guys could help me find one that'd be amazing.
