After back surgery in April I was intrigued by others recommending Hofners. I really didn’t need yet another bass, but my wife gave the go-ahead (“It’s a write off, right?”) My Ignition Cavern has become quite a joy to play, although there was a time of adjustment to the short scale. I feel kind of guilty my MIA Fender P mostly stays at home these days.

Thanks, yeah i love it to death. Someone decades ago covered the entire bass, fretboard binding and everything in amber lacquer and maybe stored it in a basement. The neck was twisted and bumpy, unplayable. But this cello guy saved it, refretted, took the lacquer off, for very cheap. I think he loved to work on it and i was just a student so he went easy on me. Leveled the fretboard, reset the neck and inlaid a nice piece of ebony in the joint, which looks cool as well:

I like the 67 because of the carved headstock logo, enclosed tuners, blade pickups, which look better than the staples imo. It does have a brass looking tailpiece that matches the brass around the electronics, not sure though if that is aftermarket or corrosion or what, but i like it more than chrome. Not big into the teacups or pearloid so got some moog style knobs and a black hofner cover. Strung up with the same Ti flats i gave the cello guy to string up about 10 years ago. Up until a few weeks ago my only bass. I wanna be buried with this thing

That's great. I'm sure the cello liked working it since it's construction is similar to the instruments in the violin family.

I had a local luthier do some work on my 68 and my fretless (06). He raved about the quality of the craftsmanship. I really enjoy mine also.

They used to have a store in Albuquerque and Elliot is very cool. They have a good operation. This particular bass was already mine and he was selling it for me, but I decided it is too fab to let go of!

LOL! I don't blame. I love my German Club. Thanks for the information. I know they used to have places in in Carmel and New York but it looks like they are in Nashville now.
