Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group

I am currently using a GK MB210 for my amp. I am thinking about getting a SA VT Bass with the DI mod. What amp(s) are you currently using and what amp do you think provides the best "Hofner" sound. Also are you running any effects?

I run SansAmp VT bass into Ampeg RocketBass 100, tho' the SansAmp is more for the Rickenbacker and Fender Jazz than the Hofner.

Nice collection of Honers!!! You don't see the '58's much and the finish on the Club is knockout. You are number 14. I play mostly Praise/Worship and classic rock. I like the sound. Depending on the size of the venues that you play, you may also want to check out the MB 212. 500 watts without the need for an extension vs the MB 210 at 350 standalone or 500 with an extension cab. The weight on both is in the mid 30's range. Easy to shlep around.

He did not swallow the mic in question, but it's always good to let the microphone know that you can swallow it if you so choose. That way, it knows who's in charge.

I got my Hofner for free, by chance. I had never been particularly attracted to these instruments in the past. I never had much interest in short scale basses, didn't really care much for the body shape, and to top it off, never really got THAT into the Beatles. So if I hadn't lucked into this one, it's hard to say if I ever would have picked one up.

...So I was totally caught off guard when I found myself loving it. Mine is just one of the cheapo icon-series basses, but the build quality is excellent. Even with 95 roundwounds on it, the bottom end this thing puts out is amazing. I'd never played a hollow-body bass before, and now I wish I had a few more. I often play distorted in my bands, and I love that I can make this thing do harmonic feedback just like a guitar. I'm absolutely in love with it.

My 1964 Hofner Violin bass,with a body date of the 24th of May 1964. This was my main bass for 10 years and was all I ever used,no matter what band I was in. It cost £175 back in November 1988 & it paid me back many times over. It now lives in it's case under the bed,and is brought out a couple of times a year.

They are quite amazing. Try some flats on it for a real bottom sound. I haven't got any harmonic feedback on mine. I guess that I never have my amp up enough to cause it. For fun I will have to give it a go sometime. :D I think that your singer's mic knows who is control.

Hi Shawn. What do you play on your 64' when it sees the light of day? It is a beautiful bass. Your number is 18. Nice to have you here.
