It is $449 but shipping is about $50. Maybe I will call them, although, again, it's not clear they have one in stock either.

Also, you raise an intriguing point that I've been wondering about. Is Hofner taking this product off shelves for a while to stoke demand, as a prelude to a price jump? That would be consistent with their distributor change-up of the past month, wouldn't it? It's entirely possible that Hofner has done some market analysis and seen how popular the Icon is, and some MBA is telling them they can charge a lot more for it. What better way to jack the price than to make it suddenly impossible to buy for a few months?

I have no information that supports that scenario, and I have nothing against the Hofner company. But in the absence of real information, I'm left to wonder.

Some day this will all go away, and we'll have our answers, I hope.

Right you are. It never hurts to call. Norman apparently doesn't want to bother with weekend voice mails, however, so I will call them Tuesday morning. I don't know where the title of that link came from (...available now!!!), but we'll see on Tuesday.

Hi all!

Well, I already have the Grover Tuners from Stewart - MacDonald.

To change them, I used a round file to vast timber of 9 mm diameter, and a small Philips screwdriver tip. I used the file rotating, not backwards and forwards. With patience, it took me five minutes for change to tuner.

The Grover working very well. My original tuners not going up. Particularly, too, I liked the most physically grovers all metallic, than Höfner with plastic piece..

I put photos before, during and after.

Just one question. Should lubricate?:help:
