I have the introverted version of that:

7.37 pounds, hangs great on a strap (Hipshot Ultralite tuners, roasted neck). Looks completely normal from the front. You don't make a bass light by drilling a few holes. You make a bass light by making sure every piece is light, and then, if the body is a bit too heavy, then you drill some holes. The weight reduction of the above set of holes was about a third of a pound - just what I needed to get it to where I wanted it. If your bass is 2 pounds too heavy, you ain't getting there with holes.

You know, I was fine with those holes. I hadn’t ruled out buying it. But then, then, I saw the stacked knobs and realized they must have put a preamp in there. Why do people keep doing that to jazz basses?

They're drilled as well as inked. You can see the divots more clearly in this photo:

You're right; I missed this shot. THIS far, I would not go. The file folder dots meet my needs just fine.

TB is truly an interesting place. There are arguably more weight sensitive people per capita on this site than anywhere else in the world and they all band together to make fun of what people have done to reduce weight. Marvelous isn't it?
