Holey Moley!

You know, I was fine with those holes. I hadn’t ruled out buying it. But then, then, I saw the stacked knobs and realized they must have put a preamp in there. Why do people keep doing that to jazz basses? :p

The two do not have to have anything to do with each other. You can buy a stacked knob passive setup that works just like J's were originally built.

I don't dislike the idea, but I think the execution is pretty poor. Garbage, actually. The holes don't follow any specific sweep or curve, the sizes are haphazard....I don't see the art in it.

If Ovation made a single-cut bass with their signature hole pattern, I'd probably love it. Or if someone made a custom bass with similar cutouts, but following a smooth curve - I could see it.
