I finally got my homebacker finished. The pics of the unfinished bass are on my work computer, but here's a few pics of the finishing process and the bass itself. It's a kind of a medley of mid-seventies 4000 and Chris Squire model.
Specs:
-maple body and set neck
-bubinga fretboard and headstock wings
-dual carbon rods and dual action truss rod in the neck
-Allparts bridge
-Hipshot tuners
-pickup by Sergio Silva, a pickup maker I found at rickresource
-pickup ring is bought and shipped to me by drbassman from TB forums. Thank you one more time.
-finish is nitro with acrylic spray paint as colour layer
I was a little worried about spraying nitro on top of paint but it worked out just fine.
I used Mirka Abralon pads for final "sanding". They are just great! After wet sanding with 800 paper, I used a drop of soap water and 2000 and 4000 pads. After that only a little polishing was needed.
