If you didn't watch this last night, it was hysterically funny, and very poignant to us bass players. Homer takes Lisa into "Guitar Central" and ends up buying a ton of bass gear and starting a band called "Covercraft" with the other dads. If you didn't see it - try to watch it online. Here's a clip:

Lol that was hilarious when Bart and milhouse were playing what appears to be jenga, homer's bass playing made the shelf fall on milhouse. Also the bass homer is playing kinda looks like a Yamaha. Well at least the head stock looks like one.

Doesn't Harry Shearer still write for The Simpsons ?
I think he still does voices...

He's a bunch of Simpsons characters. Including Mr Burns, Smithers, Flanders, Kent Brockman, the doctor, the reverend, Lenny, and Otto the bus driver.
All that in addition to being the bass player in Spinal Tap and in the Folksmen from Mighty Wind.

Funny how we bass players think. I also attempted to identify the bass Homer's cartoon bass was modeled after and believed Yamaha was the likely inspiration. I also liked the recorded tone and wondered what equipment was used to track the bass for the episode. Even though it was mostly just pedaling on the E string, I thought the tone was good.

Clearly, someone who writes for that show is a bass player.

Anyone remember Homer's prior enthusiasm for "the bong-rattling bass of Mel Schacher" in the Grand Funk Railroad tribute episode? Only a writer/bass player could come up with this stuff. Well done.
