It was a great bass episode up until the part where Abu leaves the band, but a bass player had to have written the show up to that point.....I was laughing out loud!

You do know that Derek Smalls of spinal tap aka Harry Shearer dies many of the voices is a writer and director of the series right?

Yeah, Homer was rockin a 90's Yamaha RBX bass with the correct headstock, P + J pups, and knob arrangement. Someone on Team Homer has been a bass player and likely had a 90's RBX.

Besides Homer J Simpson, I've seen Woody Woodpecker playing bass... and there was another cartoon figure playing bass but I can't recall who it was.

I bet Flanders plays keyboards (starting with the organ in church, no doubt).

Nah it's a little old lady; at least it was, until the episode where Bart messed with the services one Sunday, and the pastor called for "Hymn Number ... 'In the Garden of Eden', by I. Ron Butterfly". At the end of the 11 minute organ solo, she dropped over..Dead? But he'd for sure be a good candidate for the job. (And, you might be thinking of Tom, from the Tom & Jerry cartoons; plays a mean upright bass in one.)
