I recently bought a used fretless Warmoth fretless neck that was made in 1986. The truss rod adjusts at the heel of the neck, the nut is a slotted one, and it's pretty well mushroomed from years of adjustment.

I emailed the folks at Warmoth and they're going to send me out a new one - free!

On a 24 year old neck?

Yup.

A truss rod nut is a huge deal - without it the truss rod doesn't work. It's also a pretty specialized piece of hardware. All I know is that this one wasn't going to last me very long being as mangled as it was and even a new slotted one would be better. I hope it's a hex head nut, though. I contacted them expecting to pay for it and got it shipped to me free of charge, and on a 24 year old used neck at that! That's what I call customer service!

A truss rod nut is not a big deal, but good customer service is a big deal, and worth mentioning!
Why didn't you just drive over there since you're in the same town?

I guess I mean it's a huge deal if your truss rod won't work because the nut is screwed up. They don't actually have a store front, so I can't just bring stuff over or buy stuff there. If I buy something from them I still have to pay shipping even though they're a 15 minute drive from here!
