Horn/tweeter on or off?

Do you like your tweeter on or off?
I can't decide if I like mine on or off. I keep going back and forth.

Tube head, off. SS head with some fuzz or distortion, off. SS head clean, on depending if I want the high end sizzle.

Classic rock cover tunes- off. Fuzz/distortion- off. Solo or jazz-ensemble stuff- on.

I always like to have the option, because sooner or later I'll probably use that option.

When I built my fEARful I put the tweeter on the side to be able to adjust. Here is a ******** *** demo of me sucking on a Microkorg to show the difference with the tweeter on and off. There is a HUGE difference. IMO, I just can't see why people would turn their's off all the time. For fuzz, I get it...but otherwise you're sucking off a good portion of your tone.

I'm using a Mesa Strategy 400 ALL TUBES baby. You can hear a tube rattling at one point. It's been replaced.



I use the tweeter on when I'm running clean. If I'm adding a lot of dirt...especially using my Mountainking Megalith...I'll turn it off.

When I built my fEARful I put the tweeter control on the side to be able to adjust.

This is one thing I wish was done differently on my build. Switch and control on the side. I can live with it on the back, but would be nice to be able to get to it between songs.

I primarily keep mine off most of the time. However am not against turning it on or using it when needed or it fits.

For me, off. I play with a bit of an overdriven sound, and tweeters don't usually like overdrive.

I haven't messed with my tweeter much on any amp I've owned. There's usually a rotating knob that goes from 0 to 100 percent on. I set it at 50 or halfway, and pretty much never think about it again.

I leave my tweeter control on the cab on full. I control it via my head, usually about 1:00. Sounds much more articulate with it on.
