Hot Hand - my current setup

ok, this may help with Line6 setup:

Start with the volume setting and plug in an expression pedal and make sure you that the Toe/Heel set up to bring the volume from 0 to full on. Once you know that is setup working then switch over to the HH3 and experiment with the settings on HH3 receive and waving the HH around until you find it working like the expression pedal was. Turn the HH ring around if you still can't get it to work. And remember when you 'calibrate' the HH you are setting it's center position.

Hope that helps. I've spent hours dialing in what I've shown in that video, so don't give up. It's worth the effort once you hit that AH-HA moment.

This is awesome. I just ordered a M5 due to your demo. I have been floundering a bit with my HH3 within a band setting, and I am hoping this opens things up a bit.

You're gonna have serious fun. There are tons of other things with M5 you can do with Octave, pitch-up, distortion, tremelo, on-and-on!!! All controllable with HH3

The 'Octave Fuzz' setting I prefer has some octave-up mixed in. So I think the brighter, harsher fuzz works best for me. The amount of clean mix on BEF pro also changes the intensity of the EF, all wet for strongest, most noticable fx. I do need to try more, non-Sa distortions to hear what happens. I have a moddedBOSS DS-1 that should get good results.

Dirt before BEF for me

Wow, my video has a ton of views on it and everyone talking about the Hot Hand is very cool.

A friend of mine did get a HH3 and is using it on a SB2 pedal and has brought up some questions I've always wanted to know the answers to, so hopefully someone from SA will chime in on this.

It's about "SENOR OUT PROCESSED". This seems to be needed if you want to adjust the Smoothing and Depth when plugged into a SB2 pedal. But, what happens if:

1. you have a SB1 or Pro pedal daisy chained with the SB2 pedal. Will the precessed signal from the HH3 over-ride the Pro backpage settings or the HH controls on the SB1 pedals?

2. what if you use a HH2 reciever on the SB2 pedals. Do you loose Depth and Smoothing control, or is there a default?

Just curious. We figured out that on a SB2 pedal you do need to turn on the "SENOR OUT PROCESSED", but I've been wondering about these items above for a while. I currently am using only the TRS output on my HH3, so the HH# Smoothing and Depth controls work fine. But I have been known to hook these things up in crazy configurations and I'd like to understand the inter-action better.

>>No, they actually get doubled up. Best to just pick one or the other.

>>There is a default setting. You do have some controls when you set the range in control assignment.

Hi Guys,

Glad I found this thread! Just got my HH3 today, and I am trying to cover the song "Madness" by Muse. I can't seem to figure out the best mode and setting to accomplish this. I also us a Zoom B3 w/ the HH3.

Would you by chance be able to offer any advice on how to set up for this? If so, thanks much in advance. I will be happy to add any feedback through my discovery as well.

^ Not running the zoom, but, for the tune madness, I'm running the HH into my SB2 mwbd set on single band distortion, drive backed completely off for the first half of the lick, then drive up 3/4 full for the second half. The HH obviously used to trigger the second half. I'm also running a phaser to give it a bit more of a synth type sound. Works pretty well like this. Hope that helps.

As a side note, I'm returning my HH3 and keeping my old school wired HH. For whatever reason, I seem to get much better control with the wired version. Spent two weeks tweaking the HH3 and I just can't get the response I like, while the old wired version works like a charm for me. Probably my fault somehow, but the wired HH was literally just plug and play.

I don't have a B3 either, but I bet you could make a distortion/phaser (maybe evena little synth) and control the drive with HH? The M5, M9, M13 can do this, I just don't know what parameters an external expression pedal can control.

And hey everyone, if you have a SA pedal, a wired HH is only $20.

I've got a Hot Hand USB coming, so looks for a video demo on that coming soon..

Thanks for responding guys.

My problem seems to be that I don't get the full range of motion from the controller. If I move my hand more than an inch or two on any axis, I lose signal.

I am wondering if I am doing something wrong, or if the HH3 that I got is not working properly...

HH LIVE ACTION

Here's a little clip from this weekends show with me using a Classic Distortion Pro (Octave Fuzz) into a BEF Pro with my HH2 on my hand controlling the wobbles and a HH3 on the Expression input controlling frequency. So when the next rises, the frequency lowers. I don't go down low too much because that doesn't cut thur the mix as well. This is GoPro audio, so if sounded even better and stronger live.

Everytime I do this it's always a little different and this time I really got the wobble to a hyper speed at about 0:23-0:25 on the clip. that's the first time I've heard it hit that tempo.

And the end of the song you can hear the HH3 controlling the frequency with the neck movements the best

Thank you for that video very impressive setup. I'm still trying to get my sound just right. I only have the HH3 and the BEF pro. I'm not satisfied with the wobble effects it gives me thus far. I know I need additional pedals but I need some advice on a setup to get a very deep wobble sound. I don't like that high pitch frequency change you get when using the HH, how would I eliminate that? Also would a compressor right before the BEF and then a booster pedal after be a good idea? I appreciate the help.
