+1 And the majority of car accidents are caused by human error. Guess who's gonna drive/fly the new flying cars, while texting and using the cellphone?
Does that mean in the future, we'll have landing pads on our household roof?
That old Monsanto place has a lot of hidden liabilities.. But in the over-eager, "take it to the top" 1950's, people were less concerned with that kinda thinking... Wow.. way too much plastic for me, thank you.

I'm almost afraid to wonder how much the insurance will cost for a flying car!
I don't know - but I want one. I'm not a technological savant and I don't chase the "newest big thing" but I can't think of anything more incredible than a flying car.
I think less about insurance and more about the revolution in transportation. Imagine not having to go to the airport to get to your friend 5 states away.
I don't see flying vehicles as any more dangerous than driving ones. Just more infrastructure to "regulate" the "air waves".

That would be awesome. I believe jet fuel is more expensive than gasoline.
Director Kevin Smith told a humorous story during one of the Jay & Silent Bob Get Old shows. He thought, "Ok, I'm a big-time director", why not just get/hire a private plane to fly to New York (or somewhere else, I don't quite recall.) Anyway, he began to price it & discovered the cost of fuel alone worked out to $10K. lol
It will be definitely interesting to see where tech goes. Definitely going to see this stuff very soon. Part of me loves to think up the future but part of me is a bit sober about the fact that we've created what we have so far and still most of us are dumb as a box of rocks while getting fatter and more violent.
We seem to have moved along the Monkey-Neanderthal-Human path, seemingly only to have taken a few steps back for this generation. lol

Have you ever seen the movie Idiocracy by Mike Judge? Released in 2006, the movie pretty much slipped under the radar of many movie watchers. If you haven't already seen it, try to find a copy. It's actually a very clever movie primarily about the dumbing down of the civilization after a 500 year period.

Didn't they also have those entirely round houses? (Like where the base wasn't visible)? I could've sworn I've seen a few of those.
The flying car will only take hold for the general population when the cockpit is fully automated and will not require any piloting skills from the occupants. You simply enter your destination into the automated flight director and the aircraft will take off, route itself and land without a pilot. The flight director will avoid other air traffic, adverse weather, etc. Anything less will be a complete disaster.
I don't think we'll ever see flying cars in the public because they're useless and a disaster when it comes to energy efficiency.

I am not sure about that. There is a lot of work going on right now with electric powered aircraft.

Very true. (Just think of the efficiency of Locomotive transport).
And look at this: For each pound that we launch into orbit costs about $10,000. (a few years ago that was "roughly it's weight in gold").
And to fly it to the moon? Roughly it's weight in diamonds.
