We've known all about that stuff for many years, actually. Doesn't really fit the fEARful lightweight and compact cab aesthetic at all though, unfortunately.

I suspect that there are reasons why this has previously been unsuccessful. Magnets weigh a lot more than voice coils. Hence, the overall moving mass of the driver (with a moving magnet and stationary voice coil) is substantially increased... and the sensitivity decreased - a lot. Given the lower sensitivity, the driver needs a lot of power to be useful - we now have class D amplification.
