How about the Laney Digbeth preamp pedal?

If this pedal had a different brand on it people would be tripping over themselves to get them. "Laney" has just never quite crossed the threshold into the hallowed ground that Marshall, Fender etc live in.
Yeah. Im aware of the Laney brand, probably had one or two Laney combos in the past, but as you say, it's not up there with Darkglass/Sansamp etc so get missed. I guess the low price also puts people off.
Last week I get the Nux NPB5. Another one that seems to get missed in the big list. I really like that, but not sure it's better for live work than the Digbeth.
For reference im a very long term Sansamp user. BDDI/Paradriver/Q-Strip, ive had them all.
My criteria for this was I wanted a versatile clean-ish sound with the ability to get it dirty, without changing the fundamental tone.

Even flat, the Digbeth is a bit colored. Clean, but colored if that makes sense. I would compare it to something, but I can't. It has a tone unlike any other bass preamp I've heard. It is really cool. I'll eventually get another one when the time is right. The FET channel is really good. Liked it better than the dirty channel, but the best was mixed with just a little bit of the dirty channel. That sounded really good.

There is no such thing as uncolored when it comes when it comes to these devices. Its just a matter of degrees

I don’t mind coloured, after all I’m coming from a BDDI lol. From what I’ve heard on YT it does have a nice character to its FET channel. I was planning on having the drive channel as my on/off sound on top of the FET, but can see me just going to between the two. I love that you can not only dial in the drive, but also control its level. The Nux has a nice drive but it’s on a blend knob. Not quite as versatile.
