How Are Warmoth P-Bass Necks?

I have a warmoth neck and love it! you can't go wrong with their quality.

Warmoth necks kinda suck all around IMO. Got into a discussion with a guitar buddy of mine the other day we both agreed their ok but their is better and cheaper for what you get. their bodies are nice.

I built a Warmoth P Bass using their all maple neck and swamp ash body and this bass plays like butter. The neck is thick and solid and fits big paws like mine. I'm getting parts together to build an all Warmoth Jazz Bass soon. Warmoth necks are great! Added a pic so you can check it out.

I have a Warmoth Deluxe Jazz 5 neck and it is just amazing. It isn't Warwick heavy, but compared to the Mighty Mite I put on my parts Pbass it is quite a bit more substantial.

I think the real question here is... are Warmoth necks good for metal?

Oh, I must add that the neck and the rest of the bass doesn't feel or sound like a Fender... thank God.

Can we just put a sticky out there that says "if you want something to sound like a Fender... buy a Fender."

What I like about the Warmoth stuff is that you can get the visual aesthetics of Fender basses yet with very high build quality and lots of custom options.

If you put together a Warmoth, it won't be a Sadowsky or a Mike Lull either... but then again it will probably be about 1/3 the price with the same components.

We can't have our cake and play it too...

I have a Mako Traditionals TPB-1 bass! It has a brass saddle it seems.

I have an old Mako TPB-2 P-bass. The Mako TPB-1 was my first bass when I was 16-17 years old, so I bought the TPB-2 (couldn't find a TPB-1). Looks and feels exactly like the TPB-1. It''s strictly a sentimental and nostalgic thing, so any money I spend on it is done with no concern for resale value.

The body of this bass has a really comfortable feel. Back in December/January I had the electronics gutted, everything replaced and upgraded to quality pots, the jack and had Seymour Duncans SPB-2 installed (with Cream pickup covers). So I want to make this the best it can be.

This bass is roughly 30 years old and the neck isn't doing it for me. It's a vintage C neck and it's much too fat/thick for me to play comfortably for any extended amount of time. The frets are pretty worn down and there are some other issues with this neck.

I'm looking to find a nice high quality maple neck to replace it. Something more along the lines of the new modern C necks which are slightly thinner than the vintage C are much easier on my hands. I don't want anything too thin.

Something that will work well in the neck pocket of this bass.

I see that Warmoth has many necks available.

So how are their necks? Are they high quality necks? How about their quality control and durability?

Anyone have experience with Warmoth necks? Are their other options out there, besides Warmoth?

had a body from them that was amazing. have another body i got from usacg that is feather light (complete bass is 8.2lbs with ultralites). warmoth makes graphite rods for an upcharge instead of the steel ones. you can get a MIM neck straight from fender for like $200 on their website. those don't have rods at all, which is how they made all of them until recently.

one thing i like about usacg (only looked have never purchased), is that you can specify a pre-programmed/known neck profile with measurements/radius, or specify your own. warmoth does not do this, and they have only one radius available. i have heard that their regular profile is kinda thick.
