How can I write good lines for Metal?

I'm in a metalcore band(yes, I know it's different than Metal) and I need some tips on how to write my basslines so they are harmonic with the guitar rather than melodic.

If you mean what i think you mean, then what you need to learn is Counterpoint

Edit to add: This is the book Motzart learned Counterpoint from. I know he didn't play "Metalcore" , but all of the fundemental principles are the same. Amazon Link

Doodle around with open notes and diffrent patterns. Eventually you'll hear something u like and take it from there, I tend to add a few high notes/octaves at the end of my basslines in the right moment, I like to add a bit of variety in the mix, dont like aying the same thing ober and over. Or at least thats what i do for a hard rock style of playing. Hope I helped
