beat me to it. a pro set up and fret dressing can do wonders. As long as it's not an Affinity the pups should be fine. My next suggestion is usually the pots. They can be total tone chokers when cheap.

Man, you could clean out those fret lines and fill them with something solid - like white styrene - and it would look much better. Those lines are nasty-looking, but the bass looks great!

Hmmm....If I could get Styrene in Africa it would be in the list of things to do I did put some black veneer in the lines, but yeah, maybe on the weekend I will rip them out and put strips of ash in there...

I am also not entirely excited about the fretlines, but it is my pickup-and-noodle bass, so I would rather wear this down than my homebuilt flagship (the lines on that are perfect).
