I’m not exactly sure what qualifies as diversity in basses; but, like people, I take my basses one at a time for what they can do, and not so much what they look like. Though I do like them to look interesting. And please forgive the somewhat shabby analogy to people, who are orders of magnitude more complex and special.

This is my bass selection. I do NOT have a collection.

I have all the electric bass sounds covered that I feel are important, with 9 basses. My only redundancy is 2 passive Ps with flats because I really like them (I would own a 3rd).


Edit - I'd like to own a 51/54 P bass again. Maybe one day.

No diversity at all. The collection at home consists of a J with rounds, an active J clone with rounds, a P with flats, a lawsuit P with flats, a fretless P with tapes, and a Dimension with rounds. For extra TB cred, the P with flats and the lawsuit P with flats are both sunburst/tort.

I could never see the reasoning behind a large collection of the same style bass.
