How diverse is your bass collection?

Not a lot.
Got a Musicman USA Sub with Jazz TI Flats,
and a Fretless Squier VM Jazz with the same strings. I've been thinking of replacing the latter with a P-bass or just stay with the Musicman (I don't think I need two basses).

Pretty diverse for only three basses

- ESP Vintage 4 P/J; 34" scale 4-string passive bass, with a single-coil J pickup, strung with nickle roundwounds
- Fender Starcaster; 30" scale 4-string hollow-body passive bass, with dual humbuckers and strung with flats
- Yamaga BBG5; 34" scale 5-string active bass, strung with stainless roundwounds

So a "traditional" bass, a "vintage" bass, and a "modern" bass. Just need to get back to having a fretless to round out my collection!

Who else has a collection that is diverse.

I don't. I used to think lots of basses was important but as I've gotten older, my thinking has changed on that. Sure having lots of basses is fun, but it's not necessary for me. Plus when I have more than 4, it starts to stress me out. Setups, string changes, which one should I use, etc.

Here's what I got:

P bass - good for any style
Lakland Decade - unusual and eccentric, usable for old or new genres but more ideal as a spin on old school tones
G&L L2000 - modern/more aggressive sounds, but can be dialed back or tamed if necessary

Not very diverse. Warmoth Jazz Basses (various configuration differences) and Musicman Reflexes (various configuration differences. Also have P's and other misc basses that I don't use much. Maybe I should sell some...

Not to mention a tag on the cases handles so you know what is in what case the difference between us though is the setup and string changes are my stress relievers I have them in rotation two per gig and when I use two I put them on the otherside of the room and just grab the next two in line I have a double gig bag along with all the rest and I grabbed that one for last Saturdays show and was absolutely clueless what was inside till I open it at the show.

I might be wrong but I don’t think the OP was looking for diversity of tone, but instead diversity of basses.

Diversity is defined as a great deal of variety....very different

10 slab o’wood basses may have different tone but they aren’t very different.
