How do i adjust my string action?

Hi guys, new member here, im a guitarist but recently got hold of a bass (Cort B4) but the action is too high fo my tastes. How do i go about lowering it? the bridge is a bit different to the fender bridge style and i dont wanna screw it up so any help is much appreciated. See pic of bridge..

I would start with neck relief. If there's too much, then the action will be high. If the relief is pretty "flat" then just lower the saddles until strings just start to Buzz then raise back up until Buzz is gone.

Thanks for the replies but what I'm after is some specific advice on adjusting the action on this bridge. I looked at some bits in the sticky but the bridges seem to be different.

It appears the string saddles are actually threaded posts with a slot on top to accommodate the string. If you remove or at least loosen the string to lift it, I imagine the post can be turned CW to lower string height, CCW to raise. The hex socket immediately behind each post is a lock-down. If you loosen those, the saddle assembly may be moved forwards or backwards to accommodate intonation. This smacks of the Kubicki Ex Factor bridge...close but not quite.
