How do I get rid of Victor?

I'm not seeing the ads, but I don't think Vic Wooten is rich or anything. Might be a perfect case of "if he's famous he must be rich."

Vic Wooten is essentially a monk who has dedicated his life to writing and playing music that, as wonderful as it is, is appealing to mere dozens of people.

Mere dozens of people? You mean "some bass players"? I've never met a non bass player who was in any way interested in anything he's doing. Also I am not interested in what he's doing so there it goes anyways.

As far as endorsement deals are concerned...well, all advertising for that matter.
the first time i saw "The Wzard Of Oz", i paid attention when the great OZ said
"Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!"
I equate advertising with that man behind the curtain. Someone trying to manipulate my emotions, trying to steer me into believing i need a certain thing for my life to be complete.
I once worked in a motorcycle shop owned by a guy so slick i heard him described as "Jerry is the kind of guy you will come in and ask him where the restroom is and walk out feeling good about that brand new Gold Wing you just bought."

i´m always totally confused when i see commercials on youtube...

there are sites, where they want you to turn off the adblock. but they can kiss my bass.

He's on every darn TB page with that strings advert and I can't take much more of that Victor smile that says he's richer, more successful and much happier than me... every time the ad appears it's like a reminder of it but it just keeps coming back. I need help.

And unfortunately, the bee ess works all too well on the human brain. Just look at how many people sit and stare for hours at the mindless box we call TV and allow corporations to bombard the watchers' brains with total bee ess. And what happens next? Those humans mindlessly go buy that stuff the next day because they allowed their minds to be programmed. That's why I never watch television. I haven't watched TV in over 20 years. It's *VERY* liberating! Plus it frees up my time to play more bass or be on Talkbass!

If you ever think of envying Victor in any way, shape or form, remember that he used to endorse friggin' power cables, saying they gave new depth to his tone or some stupid s**t like that. Instant loss of respect.

I am fortunate enough to know Victor Wooten and I've been to his house and studio. First and foremost - Victor is a first-class guy and I can't imagine anyone not being happy to have him as a friend. He's also a dedicated family guy, so you're not going to see him in tabloid pages in any kind of scandal. Every year, he hosts a lot of kids in music camps to do nothing except share the joy of playing .

Let's face it - Victor is a helluva musician. He got his chops by working hard honing his craft and by playing with a very wide variety of bands and musicians. He spent a lot of his formative years on the road playing with his talented brothers

Although he's well-known, I don't think that he's wealthy beyond the dreams of avarice. He lives in a house in the woods that's secluded with a nice studio on his ground floor. But - his normal-sized house isn't in an opulent neighborhood, he doesn't drive a 6-figure German car and he doesn't dress like he's got money to burn.

I would not begrudge Victor any of the success and acclaim he has - he earned it by teaching himself to be a great musician and a incredible human being.

Well I hope Victor appreciates I don't begrudge him his success at all either, I just feel personally oppressed by his display of happiness through online advertising Tell him to be mean and moody in his next ad shoot, then I'll feel better...
