How do I get the Thumb Bass sound using a Non Thumb?

I currently have a Thumb 6 BO and a Thumb 6 NT. Prior to this, I have owned many other Thumbs. It has been my experience that perhaps the reason why the BO has traditionally been a 2-band bass is because the BO has traditionally been constructed as an all-ovangkol bass, except for the wenge fingerboard. My ears seem to believe that ovangkol is naturally more mids-heavy than bubinga. Bubinga, at least to me, seems to have a slightly more scooped sound as it is naturally brighter than ovangkol (this is not an exact science, and your ears may tell you otherwise). Therefore, perhaps Warwick felt that a 3-band preamp on an all-ovangkol bass would have been unnecessary and maybe even redundant, and that a 3-band preamp would be necessary on a bubinga bass. However, this could be completely wrong as some of the new Thumb BO basses are no longer made out of ovangkol and are now made from bubinga and have 2-band preamps. Who knows...
