How do I turn off "new thread alerts" ......very annoying

As of a day or so ago, every time someone starts a new thread I get an alert. I do NOT want to see every new thread as an alert. I've tried turning off pretty much every alert but to no avail. And there seems to be no "new thread" alert button to uncheck in preferences so I'm at a loss as to how to get rid of this annoyance.
Suggestions? If this is something new instigated by the mods I urge you to rethink this as it's just a pain in the butt.
It's just more visual noise. I only read a certain group of the available threads to begin with and certainly don't want to see stuff I'm totally disinterested in.

Must be some sort of glitch, thankfully ain't happ here. Doesn't sound like something TB would do intentionally

I'm thinking you accidentally turned on some kind of alert feature for a sub-forum which alerts you every time a new thread is posted. I do not experience this on my end. I only get alerts for threads I watch or when I am quoted/tagged.

It sounds like you enabled alerts on a forum or two you watch. Click this link- if you have a watched forum, you can opt to enable or disable alerts for it:
