How do you describe the sound generated by two interfering harmonics.

Hey,

I'm writing a guide and I reached the tuning section.
<EG>
The E string is in tune. The A string isnt.
You need to play fifth fret harmonic on E string and the seventh fret harmonic on the A string to get the A string in tune. As the two frequencies are different, they interfere with each causing that mmommommom noise.

Technically, it's called a beat frequency. The frequency of the beat
is equal to the difference between the two notes. When the notes are equal, the
beat is zero and disappears.

The sound is similar to tremolo, in that it is variation in amplitude or volume;
a waxing and waning of the two tones volume.

Is that what you are asking?
 
In my formal training ... it was the A string that is the first to be tuned ... then every other strings with the harmonics for the 5th and 7th.

when they aren't tuned there will be a beat frequency until they match, the beat become faster and faster the closer you get from matching.

They taught you to tune with harmonics?!

Please tell me that you only do this with fretless instruments....
