I found out I had a non-cancerous tumor that infiltrated T7-T9 when I was 21, and subsequently had it as well as the majority of the vertebra removed at that time, so I can certainly understand your problem as well as everyone else in the thread that has had back issues. So far all the advice seems to be good ones, and you're moving in the right direction: getting and using a good cart, upgrading your rig by downgrading its weight, etc. I currently am using an Avatar 2x12"/2x10" Neo setup because I run a clean signal to the 12s and an effected to the 10s, but could easily only use the 2x12 running full-range with plenty of sound and headroom - I could go lighter if need be, but am a "rocker" at heart who prefers a decent amount of speaker area behind me. :smug: My rack is also pretty light, an SWR Mini Mo' preamp and QSC PLX 1602 in a 4-space rack with a suitcase-type handge and casters). If things don't improve or move downward there are still other methods try: looking into lighter basses on wider straps (I prefer neoprene, as the material has a natural bounce and "give" that leather doesn't) or the X-shaped "harness"-esque ones if needed.

It sounds like you've got things planned, but remember - if it starts to really hurt back there (a burning or "ripping" pain) STOP what you're doing and see a doctor ASAP. Things can, and often do, get worse! :(

Yup I use a two wheeled cart and some Vicodone. I take my time and leave early.

Screw Spector, Mike Lull, SWR & Avatar - if I ever tour I'm going to try and get endorsed by Vicodin, Valium, Percocet, and Morphine. At very least give them a "Special Thanks" credit in the liner notes of my "Someday Recording Project" :smug:

May I ask where you got the straps from? I can't find an online source for them.

At the time- I called the Distributor (Dana B Goods; Warwick, etc) who...

RUDELY!!!@

referred me to:
[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

where I ordered them from, shipping costing me a bundle, but what the hey, huh??

THEN- they were drop-shipped!! from Dana B Goods, which happens to be about 30 miles from me; Shipping costs should have been about 1/2!!

Oh well, I did get the straps and they ARE very nice-
Now, Pro Gear doesn't list them as you can see, but might get them for you- It also appears that Dan B. no longer reps R n'Roller, they have something else...

Try calling R'nRoller direct I guess-If they're still available, they are very nice (even with exorbitant shipping charges!:D)

I have one of these, and it is great. Mine is older and is called a Kart-A-Bag (I think). You can leave your rig on it in the leaned back position for an instant kickback!

If your good enuff to gig..Your good enuff to give lessons .That's how i got into both sides of the business...There's a free roadie/backline tech in every lesson you give.....My first guitar lesson I took in 1983 taught me to tune the guitar...and the difference between instrument & speaker cables .Then I helped ever Tom,Dick & Harry load out..My night was spent..so made the most of it..Helped the sound & lighting companies as well..I never paid for drum, bass or guitar lesson..always paid in trade ..Before I bought my first amp..I bought a Conn St-11 strobotuner first ...The my first calzone briefcase...which I have till this day. I also grew up on Long Island..which had tons of teachers, musicians & venues .From my Marshalls,Ampegs to my Sonor drums..I have lite-fiber cases to full A.T.A cases ...I would definitely suggest the mentor program

wow, newer thought of that! BTW mine is a Remin Kart-a-bag tri-kart 800. I think remin is the company, Kart-a-bag is the line of products etc.

Yeah. Can you imagine an SVT kickback

Probably too top heavy and the head would slide off, but you get the idea. I did make a kickback out of a 2x10 and preamp and poweramp rack.

Mine is probably the same model as yours after all.
