How do you pronounce Moog?

When I read the name John Boehner my mental pronunciation is always Boner, I know that it is pronounced Bay-ner but when his name quickly happens across something in front of me the reading voice inside my head says "Boner". Same thing with Moog, I know that it is pronounced Mow-g but my initial mental pronunciation is always Moo-g.

Say it how ever you'd like----- he was a great drummer.

I have a buddy who insists on pronouncing it "Mog" as in log. He also pronounces Takamine as "Take-a-mine". And spaghetti is "P-sghetti". There are several more words he mangels but there's not enough time to go into that here.

But that's how you pronounce the word "aluminium."

"Aluminum" is pronounced al-oo-min-um.

I think a lot of people don't understand that there aren't just two pronunciations but in fact two spellings.
Agreed.

I pronounce it a-loo-mi-num... That's how I spell it, so that's how I pronounce it.

I'm still amazed how many think a simple Italian family name like D'Addario is pronounced Dee-Ah-Dario

We had a long a thread about this a while back. Apparently the D'Addario family mispronounces their own name. They pronounce it as duh-DAIRY-oh while the correct Italian is dah-DAH-ree-oh.

It might be due to his accent but Nick definitely said "Ep-a-fawn-nee" when I talked to him.

On that note, as a person that used to work on the phone I can tell you that people like to take liberties with the pronouncement of their names.

Yeah. He's mispronouncing his own surname as so many Americans do. If it's your given name, I say anything goes. If it's a surname, there is a right and wrong.

This thread has been informative. D'addario is d-dario, epiphani is epifawni and some people say rickenbocher. I am from Lowell mass so I have always said RICKENBAGKA. Which its own flavor of horrible. Im just not going to speak anymore.

See above for D'Addario.

I've seen D'Addario artists pronounce it wrong in promo vids for the products.

See above. They mispronounce it because the family mispronounces it.

Most players (and all the dealers and employees I have dealt with) pronounce Epifani as epiphany, I used to as well. One day I spoke with Nick Ep-a-fawn-ee and I realized I had been saying it wrong.

I am just now finding out about Moog...

I always pronounced it Epiphany too, until I met Mr Epifani a couple weeks ago. I thought it was a play on spelling/words - not an actual name.

These are what I think of when I hear Bobs name
