How do you protect your cloth grill?
The road case my SVT810AV is in isn't something my bandmates want to help me with.

Now, I avoid cloth grills as much as I can. I don't understand why companies use something so delicate on heavy duty boxes that get moved around in trucks all year long.

But if you personally dig vintage style cabs, and can't get help with a huge roadcase, then a Tuki or other slipcover is the way to go.

has anyone ever modified their ampeg 8x10 to add a metal grill in the front?
like the Simmons 2X15 cab?

IIRC ampeg also had the bxt series with metal grills.

Most B and HLF series also come with a grill. It's only the Classic and practice amps that come with clothes.

And the Portaflexes. But the HLF and B cabs come with grillcloth, too. I think the only one that comes with a metal grill these days are the Pro Neos. I'd rather have grillcloth. Looks better and not so industrial.

I remember having a cloth grille on my Ampeg 410 HLF. I had a really tough padded cover custom-made for it, no problems or risk of damage at all from thereon.
