I have three at home, one of which is usually disassembled on the work bench while the other two are on wall hangers. In the rare event that all three are functional at the same time, one lives in a gig bag in a closet. I also keep one at work in a hard case.

There is no right way.

I keep the P bass out on a stand and the alembic safely in a case with humidipaks

I generally have one on a guitar stand. The others are in cases or gigbags.

Since I don't plug in, it's easy to pick one up and play...so I keep everything where I can pick it up easily. I got no kids at home and no animals in the music room...just have to control humidity. It's easier to control one room than eight cases. Hercules makes the best wall hangers.

Got no wall space - bookcases and CD/DVD racks ate that up.
Mostly, they live in a Hercules 5-space rack like this: Hercules Stands Hercules Guitar Rack -5 Space
The fretless is usually in a Hercules GS414B 'AutoGrip Hanging Guitar Stand' for easy access since it gets 99% of my playtime.
