How do you transport your gear?

I'm super easy these days. Gig bag, small pedalboard, guitar stand. We're ampless. I drive my 05 Trailblazer or my wife's 22 Impreza. I could probably bike if I lived closer to town.

The bandleader is a wonder, though. He fits himself and his wife, two guitars in hard cases, a pedalboard, and then a Bose PA, rack with an X16 and a laptop, bag of mic stands, and boxes with mics, and all the necessary cables into a Prius.

We were seriously considering a new Impreza Sport of a Crosstrek Sport before we found the '19 Fit EX.

I too live in France, but out in a rural area where having a car is essential. I have a Fiat Stilo estate (break) which is huge inside with the back seats folded down. I can take full PA, lights, bass rig etc easily.

Most of the time though I use my ancient Nissan Micra. Markbass CMD112p, mic and guitar stands, lead bag fit in the boot (just). Bass on back seat in its gig bag. Such a fun wee car and perfect for France's country roads.

I am in process of making my rig small enough to fit in a Miata. My only standing gig is at a church, but I keep an amp there. Bass rides in the passenger seat. The few other things I bring ride in the trunk. Bummer my berg nxt 112 does not fit in the trunk. Got a barefaced one10 on the way. Should be good to go after it gets here.

I used to do that with guitar. My Miata died before I took up bass. 8^(

My 2011 Mazda 3 worked great as my gigmobile until it ate a large rock on the interstate at night. My 2023 Mazda 3 also handles the duty well, at slightly lower city (better highway!) gas mileage and better driving with a larger engine. I routinely put two Thunderbird cases, a suitcase with my pedalboard, two Fender Rumble 100s, a fold-up hand truck, and a Hercules stand bag in with some room to spare and the passenger seat available. That's putting things in the easiest way. I could get a third amp in along with a couple more instrument cases and another pedalboard and miscellaneous bag or three if I Tetrisfied things.

I bought this new and it's my main gig vehicle. 240k miles and, though showing deer damage, it's like new inside and holds tons of gear and people. I circled the high and low beam headlights. I can see the deer from a distance now, and at midnight in rural Kentucky, it matters.

I think that right turn signal is classy cyberpunk.

Inspired by a few posts on the official MB Subway Series Club… How do you schlepp your gear?
Many of us (or at least I) have a lot of gear and need to move it from home to rehearsal to gigs and so forth. So, having a vehicle is an important part of the music equation.

Here’s the back end of my Subaru Forster, transporting my guitars, synth, pedal board, amp, cab, and all the other stuff I needed to play music tonight.

I drive a Ford Focus and the limiting factor in what I can transport is what can physically fit through the doors or the trunk lid.

I've found that the back seat and trunk have a good amount of volume available, but access through the trunk lid is pretty much limited to a compact 1x15" cab. A larger 1x15" or a 2x12" just won't clear. My TL-606 is completely out of the question even though that's not a large cabinet.

That same compact 1x15" cab won't fit through the back doors even though there's more space available in the back seat. Usually I put it in the front passenger seat where it takes up a lot if space.
