It's the neck - sustain probs are always in the neck. The thinner the neck, the less stiff, and therefore higher ability for it to vibrate. Their newer prestige models have stiffening rods in the neck, but then they tend to be heavy-ish.I love the the ergonimics and playability of the sr's have had a 1405 and 5005 ,but found both of them lacking in sustain probably due to the reduced body mass...... maybee a graphite neck would improve that
I'm old enough to remember in the late 70's when Ibanez came out with the Musician series basses. Those were really nice bases.
SHHH! Don't tell people that this plays as good or better than most P-basses on the market, and sounds like a buttery '72!
