How long do you keep your contact lenses in?

I take them out every night. I use one pair for two or three weeks at a time before I use a new pair.

One time I kept them in overnight, and ended up in the hospital the next morning with a severe eye infection. It was incredibly painful, and I had to wear sunglasses indoors for a few days because light made the pain worse. After a few weeks of taking steroid eye drops and wearing glasses, I was able to go back to contacts, only because I hate wearing glasses. It was awful and I'm never doing it again.

One of my bad habits is to keep my contacts in for 2+ days straight, though I'm supposed to soak them every night. I have these J&J "Acuvue Oasys" lenses for over a year and supposedly the most oxygen-permeable lenses. My optometrist told me that even if you sleep with them in, it's no big deal, just rinse them and go! Being that they are two-week lenses, I am very regimented about replacing them on the 15th and 30th of each month, though.

Slightly OT: do any contact wearers experience more lucid dreams when leaving lenses in whilst sleeping? I sure do.
