Were they EBs?My new Ibby SR800 during practice. All of a sudden, the D untunes. I try to retune it... and I can't. Look over to see the string unwinding from the bridge end. Switched with a bass from the wall and continued practice.
I emailed Sweetwater, who sold me the bass; they suggested that Ibanez would consider it normal wear (I had the bass for about two months). I bought a pack of Elixirs and replaced the string.
Does that count?
I play with flats, very sturdy, I’ve always tested my strings by (while having it over my bed or something soft) make sure my string can hold the basses weightIn thinking about it today, I don't think I've broken a string in perhaps 15 years (playing out perhaps two to three times a month).
But decades ago, I remember breaking one or two strings every year.
Has my playing technique improved? Are strings sturdier? Are bass bridges better?
Just random musing . . .
