How long have you played with your current band?

Coming up on a year. Had my back surgery while still in the planning/formative stage last fall. Gigging steadily since April. Now on hiatus till mid-October for the drummer to recover from shoulder surgery.

We get along well enough that nobody's getting canned for medical issues. We'll wait. Excellent musicians who get along without the drama are worth waiting for.

Oddly, an altogether new bunch of guys. Prior to this, most bands I'd been with, I ended up working with 1 or 2 guys from previous bands going back to 1981.

Get along with the new guys WAY better than the crew I've known all those years. Just more relaxed and the pleasure isn't overwhelmed by the bull$h*t.

My current band only 3 1/2 years. However the drummer & I are on our 3rd band together, gigging 29 of the last 30 years together. Our current guitar player just finished his first year with us but played in my last band for 17 years.

Whats the secret? I believe it is being able to be totally honest with one another, able to take/give suggestions and not get ones nose out of joint. We have that much respect for one another.

We are all friends but we don't hang out with each other all the time. I think that also makes the times we get together that much more special as well.

I've been with my brother's band for the past 6 years. this band use to be awesome. we've had awesome originals and we played some cool covers on the side. but in recent years, the band has been converted into a typical cover band. all thanks to the band's drummer. and because of that, the band's been going soft. apparently, the cover songs we've been playing is starting to burn me out. and my brother feels the same way. which is why my brother and I are considering quitting the band and start out fresh with a new band. in case you're wondering, the drummer is a real fussy guy. which is why he took over the band.

I've had my band for almost 5 years. even though I form this band as a side-project and have only recorded music with band, I will eventually perform live with this band. I've developed a lot of song ideas with this band and I've only recorded music with this band. not once I've performed with this band live. however, due to my dissatisfaction on how things are going with my brother's band(thanks to the drummer), I plan to performing live with this band sometime soon. I will prepare a drum machine and hire a guitarist in my band. once I do that, I'm all set to perform with my band.

As for my friend's band, I've been with them for about a year and thing are going pretty good. my friend's band is an iced earth tribute band. he asked me if I'd be interested in joining his band and I agree to do so. I'll admit I did join this band as an excuse to leave the hard rock band that I use to play in. of course that was before the group called it quits(it's kind of a long story). but other than that, I did agree to join the band because I wanted to do something different. things has been real good with this band and we're going to be performing at the house of blues this sunday. they're having a special concert called tribute to mayhem. there's gonna be some cool tribute bands playing there. it's gonna be a totally awesome show.

Been playing bass with my funk group about 4 years, and rhythm guitar with a hip-hop/metal group for 9 months or so. Oh, and just recently got drafted into a MFATGG tribute group at work (on bass - might need to learn to use a pick).

34 years with the same drummer and 31 years with the same guitar player.

I'm 50...I started dragging my guitar and amp to a drummer friend's place when I was 16. When I was 19, a girl at work heard me talking about guitar to someone and suggested that I get together with her boyfriend who played guitar. The 3 of us have been together as a band since 1981, which is 31 years. I switched to bass in the mid-80's. We added another guitarist and keyboardist in 1990 for a while, but they went their separate ways about 6 years later. We later added another keyboard player who has been with us for 4 years now.
