How long is too long to wait for a speaker cabinet?

2 months is stretching it a little, but it's not such a big deal. i'be be more worried past the 4 month mark than the 2 month mark. then again, i'm not out for internet blood like most folks in this thread.

+1.....I totally agree Jimmy.
I can understand why he didn't want to reveal the company at this point. In normal circles, it wouldn't be a big deal. Someone else might even have some inside info as to the cause of the delay. But, as you can see, the lynch mob is already gathering here! :rollno:

I suggest getting a refund.
+1. If paid by credit card the seller should not have charged against it prior to shipping. If they did a very loud alarm bell should be ringing in your head right now. See: Doctor Bass.
FWIW no cab has an exclusive technology that justifies waiting as per Godot for it to show up. Get something else, get it locally.

I didn't read the whole thread, but are you calling them like, every day?

Apparently, the OP is buying from a music store, not directly from the manufacturer. Also sounds like a commercial manufacturer, not a custom builder, so "they won't know him from Adam".

I do think their customer service should be able to give him some info as to a real timeline, as well as any pertinent information.

Bill, you should know, is there a shortage or delay from neo speaker makers that could be holding up production?
Like I said before, I personally wouldn't wait too much longer, but it sounds like he really wants this model.

(I think Der Bass Doktor debacle has made everyone suspicious these days!):atoz:

I once waited a year. It was not worth it.

Lol Ataunton, I sincerely hope you did not wait a year for this cab, although I know you weren't really satisfied with it. Did you ever do that mod?

No, I probably should be though. I have called them about four times and have been in the store and discussed it about five times. But I'm going to call them later today and get to the bottom of it.

I actually did pay cash in full when I ordered it. In heinsight I should have just paid the deposit but I was certain I wanted this cab and no other and didn't see the harm. I was way too trusting of the process. And I could have afforded it then and didn't want to sit on the money because I would have surely spent some of it elsewhere... Lesson learned.

The neodymium price hike thread came out a couple of days after I placed the order, so it could be part of the reason, but I don't see a price hike listed on any website.

And I have seriously debated putting out the name for other player's sakes, but I do know of some people who ordered this cab and got it in a couple of weeks too, so it could be something with the distributor in between the store and manufacturer. I'm not sure, but I'm holding off on that info right now.

It is from a popular music store chain, and it is a commercial manufacturer. And you are correct LBWDog, I am very keen on this model. It has all of the features I'm looking for, plus a price I could afford, and I purchased my power amp because they were a good match, and not too many other cabs I can afford would handle the amp's power.

Hang in there then, but do call their customer service and express your concern. Just be polite and cordial (as I'm sure you will be), but get your point across. Heck, they may even give you a little "happy" for the inconvenience (LOL).

K, so I just called the store and the guy who answered said that he could call the supplier to see where it is but can't do that until tuesday, so I told him I'd call him back on tuesday (it's a holiday here on Monday). I've talked to them several times in the last couple of weeks about it and everyone comments about how long it's been, yet no one took the initiative to check it out. But that's partially my fault too. I did ask for them to track it for me, but they just kind of talked their way out of doing it, claiming it's not uncommon for this manufacturer (which I don't think is necessarily true with other distributors). I will make sure they do it on tuesday though.

This store doesn't seem to track stuff well though. I had something else which was "backordered from the manufacturer" and the very next day it showed up. So I think it just becomes "backordered" after a month or so.

There was a shortage before the price hikes, due to huge demand for neo drivers. That has turned around now, as demand has dropped, so there's no excuse as far as drivers are concerned. In cases like this very often a manufacturer won't ship a single cab, he'll wait until he has a container load and then ship it to the distributor.
OP, I don't care what the advertising might have convinced you of, no cab is worth waiting for this long. And as for the power/price ratio, wattage ratings mean nothing and you'll never pay less for a piece of gear from Europe than you will for the equivalent North American product. You'll always pay more.

I waited 2 months for my Ampeg Portaflex system but it was a new product and clearly backordered. I had regular updates from the MF about the backorder, etc. And they didn't charge me until it actually shipped. Yet I still too was losing my patience toward the end and even posted something similar to your post. I hung in there and I'm glad I did. I'd be on the phone with the store and the mfr. though. Good luck.

I waited 4 months for my RCF sub. It was well worth the wait.
I didn't have no choice because it was the distributor fault (Toronto based) who are basicaly sleeping.

i think they were waiting to have lot of stuff from RCF on the shipping list before ordering, to lower the shipping cost.
I ordered them a blanket cover for that same sub three months ago.

Some distributors make a bad rep for companies. There should be free market of distributors like there is for store ! :D
