Down to 11 basses now from 21. Thanks to Covid no gigs. Looking in my music room I saw money hanging on my walls in the form of basses I was no longer playing. Currently have:
* 1964 Fender Precision ( this was the second bass I owned purchased for $120 with hard shell case in '66 modified many, many years ago to string through with Seymour Duncan pickup tortoise guard, natural finish and Schaller tuners. Tech who did the conversion commented, " Congratulations, you just turned a $3,000 bass into a $600 player.")
* Highway 1 Fender Jazz Bass (converted to string through with stack knobs)
* Aria Fretless
* Gibson Victory Artist
* Hofner Icon
* EB Stingray 5
* Ibanez Artcore
* James North Custom Fretless (with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound jazz bass pickups)
* Warmoth Korina PJ with custom James North Neck
* James North Custom P (built with pickup, reverse wind tuners, bridge and pick guard from my old '64)
* NS Design Upright
Still too many but........
Whittled down my collection of cabs and amps too.

Some have come, some have gone, but I remain at 3. '97 vintage MIJ Fender P., solid Acacia Kala U, and a Rob Allen Mouse 4 with humbucker and piezo. I just saw a very clean Ibanez Roadstar P style bass in my local music store, and it kicked off a bout of GAS. But really, I want to stay a 3, and the current collection covers all of my needs and then some.

Two basses for me.

A Hofner HCT 500/1 and a Danelectro Longhorn.

Used to be my sole bass was a German Hofner V'63. I miss it but the Contemporary model does what I need.

Flats on the Hofner, rounds on the Longhorn and I'm covered.

I'm pretty utilitarian at this point, so unless I find one of my goldilocks / sweetheart basses, I feel pretty good with four. Have a Jazz, a Precision, a 'ray, and a 5-String. Have yet to find a sound I can't make.

I'm GASing for a new guitar, though. I have a nice Strat, a nice Tele, but I'm wanting an archtop with 2 Humbuckers in the mix, so there may be a Les Paul / LP knockoff in my future.

I have a 7 guitar rack, and I keep my acoustic in its case. As long as my empire doesn't expand too far past those borders, UN doesn't get involved.

I sold my Fender P Mike Dirnt model about 9 months back and was down to 4 basses but now I bit the bullet and have got a new Fender P though it's old... a beautiful 76 P bass in near perfect condition. So back to 5 basses again and happy as a pig in......

I'd been really good for a while -- having bought none in the last ~2 years -- but then just last month i got a Spector NS-2000/5 (Korean), and am now waiting for the post to destroy, er, i mean deliver, a Music Man Bongo 5 HSp fretless Dargie Delight II.
