Assuming the new 'Stang arrives today, in order of acquirement:

Almost catlady/person status... but not quite! I did lose three basses along the way via gifting or trade-ins.

I think i once said that the correct number of bases was N+1 (N= the number of bases you currently own.
but i need to clarify N must be a number that does not trigger your spouse to say “no more bases!”

I’m downsizing and just keeping the ones I play a lot and can’t live without.
1954 P-Bass (early in the year, slab) - players grade, incredible baseball bat neck.
1954 P-Bass (late in the year contoured, blonde) - it might be the most perfect bass on the planet. I play almost every gig with this bass.
1963 P-bass - 100% original incl. pick-guard. Wide thin neck, very well played… it looks SRV relic’d it.
1969 Telecaster Bass - Blonde, deep thump for my old school country gigs.
1975 P-Bass (too much sentimental value)
1966 J-Bass - excellent condition / sunburst
2010 Gibson Thunderbird - a present from my wife, sustain for miles.
1967 Guild Starfire - very light for when I just can’t take the weight anymore.

Those p’s and jazz sound like a great retirement plan. Dirty estimate is 200k in bases. What… 3-4x value increase in the last 10 years?

A Fender J that's almost a parts bass at this point (but it's a beautiful bass) and a Fender P that's pretty heavily modified.
I sold my Yamaha BB415 and the Sterling Ray34 is on the chopping block. The BB415 was a good 5 string PJ, the Ray34 was a good 4-string MM style, but I wasn't a fan of the neck. I used some of the cash to buy a *gasp* electric guitar.
I think I'll enter the market for a nice 5-string single or dual humbucker bass once the rest of my reverb stuff settles down.

Honestly, I thought I would have amassed a far greater collection since my join date of this forum, especially given reading here would always make me want something new. But these 3 basses have me covered for any possible sound I could need. Classic P, P/J and Musicman tones, who needs more than that? Wants are a different thing entirely though and boy do I want a pointy headstock, 80s Charvel/Jackson/Kramer/pointy headstock bass.
