How many basses do you own? (Currently) Part 2

For 24 years I had one bass and was so happy. So very happy. Oh, i had one $100 backup just in case of a string breakage but I only played one bass. And it was great. No pedals.

Simple can be good. I went 25 years with one fretted bass. For the last six years now I also have a fretless. This summer I got a new SX P-bass and I'm learning to love flats. I try out the pedals sometimes but mostly just run straight into an old Traynor tube amp. Fortunately I have neither the money nor space to add many more instruments.

Yer gonna scream because it comes with the Red Tort but I've never been a fan of them I'm going to put a black Moto Pickguard on it to match the blocks and binding. It does look really nice with the Red Tort though. I'm just not a red person.

That's cool. Everyone's different. The blocks and binding would have been a deal breaker for me. I've never been a fan of them.

I have 5 currently, and have been pretty much gas free for 6 months or so.
1 Fender Jazz V (passive)
1 Fender Jazz 4 (passive)
1 Fender Precision LYTE (active, P/J)
2 functionally identical, but completely different looking Precision 4s (passive)

I should probably replace one of the Ps with something completely different, like a Stingray, but...no.

I've got 2 electrics and an upright (plus another build on the go). Until recently I had 5 all together. But 2 of them were never touched... I mean, really, never touched. Earlier in the year I went to a conference with Francis Chan as the keynote speaker he said words to the effect of, "it's only stuff, why do we feel we have to hold onto it?". I came home and put those 2 basses on the market. Got a little cash, but the space I got back and the clutter I got rid of was so much nicer. I literally made me feel less stressed.

Currently 24, I think , About half Stuart Spector, I've been collecting Spectors since '91, they are the only basses I buy that I never sell. I've got 3 Brooklyn era NS-2 including a 1 of 3 custom order that used to belong to Sandy Horne from the old Canadian New wave band The Spoons. I have 4 NS-2 USA made after the move to Kramer. I have an NS-4 and an NS-2 made during the SSD era when Stuart was fighting to get his name rights back from Kramer, and I have 3 bought since the move to upstate NY, a 2008 custom order NS-4 I waited months for just to have it made exclusively by Stuart's hands only, including rare piezo bridge option they no longer offer. A Doug Wimbish Sig model, love the string spacing. and finally a spalted maple USA NS-2J bolt -on.

The other dozen basses are a mix, couple rarer Ibanez neck through Soundgears, an early Status King Bass Black Beauty, a couple of cheaper pieces like the Epiphone Toby and a couple economy Warwick Corvette Basic Actives just because I like the body shape and the ergonomics of them. The other 6 or so are a couple of vintage Ibanez including the first bass I ever owned an Ibanez Roadstar II I got brand new in like '82-'83ish. Couple of Fender J's tricked out with EMGs, Jeff Babicz bridges and hipshot tuners. Think that's it, oh almost forgot the old Yamaha TRB4-P, first run late 80's when TRBs came from the custom shop and cost a truckload. If I read the serial right it's an '88 so early TRB, I'm not that up on Yammy basses so I could be off, had it since '91 also.
