I am always buying and selling as some of you know but honestly there are only 2 I consider mine, the rest are trade bait or something I am flipping.

I can understand the trading and flipping thing and it is a lot of fun. It also gives you a lot of first hand knowledge about a lot of different basses.

But as for basses considered "mine", I could never get along with just two. My basses are in categories: 4, 5, 6, and 7 string to start. (that's four), then fretted and fretless (That's eight) and then old school and modern (that's 16). And finally there is the "oddball" category which at present only has my 8 string (doubled) and my Carvin Semi-hollow body AC50. The AC50 is at times my main axe for certain music (blues) but I still don't classify with other electric basses as it's rather different. (So that's 18).

And Oddly that comes out to just about the number of basses I own. I actually own two more because I have two duplicates in my SX collection where one is flats and one is roundwounds.

But just two basses? How could that work? Would I just choose a 7 string in fretted and fretless? But would it be old school or modern? I just don't see how 2 basses can work unless you only play one kind of music all the time.

Which was totally done to make room for more.

I sold my Alex Webster Signature Spector to make room for a Spector USA Series Electric Guitar (ARC6-RW).

I have two USA Spector NS-2 models on order and another ARC6, this one is the first to ever have the Floyd Rose bridge.

I'm a sick man. You've heard of GAS... I have SAS... Spector Acquisition Syndrome.

My Current Stable Left to Right:

  • 1988 Kramer-Era NS-2A Fretless
  • 2011 NS-2 - The Black Pearl - The first Spector to ever have Black MOP inlays.
  • 2010 NS-4 - Water Cured Redwood
  • 1996 Spector B.O.B.-4 (Bolt On Bass) #019 - the only B.O.B. to get workshop installed crown inlays.

6

Framus (my first bass)
Cort Semi-Acoustic (bought it for the rest of my parents, so I could play untill late at night without having to use an amp)
Aria Pro II STB series
Stagg Electric Upright bass (I wanted to play upright bass again, but short on money to buy a double bass, the Stagg was/is a decent alternative)
Peavey T-40
Ibanez Silver Series Jazzbass

And +1
A double bass I hired from the musical school I went to when I was 16 to 18 years old. (but I didn't really own that one).

Sometimes I thing of selling some basses, but I just can't get through with it, there are just to many memories attached to each bass.

Still at 10, but the only difference from my last list is I sold off my Lakland P5 and bought JPSBassist's Webster Spector.

Had another SR5 H and Forte 4 briefly but moved both of them.

Will shortly be taking delivery of a second Euro 435 so looks like it'll be 11 since I can't figure out anything else to move.

I remember when I had only 5 basses - it was only 4 years ago!
