How many basses do you own, total?

If you have to actually count them to know, it's probably more than you need. (like that has anything to do with it)

I had to - it's 15. But I do actually play them all. Granted 2 or 3 of them most of the time, but they all have unique qualities. And although many of them were expensive, I do have a couple that are surprisingly good and were downright cheap.

But if you play 4-strings, and 5's and fretted and fretless, and want a vintage P-Bass and a modern, high tech 5 and everything in between - it adds up.

BTW - if you try this B.S. logic on you wife or girlfriend and they actually buy it - they are keepers, for sure !!! ;)

I get the same darn question from my wife. And, yes, it's hard to convey the point in an articulate manner..."see, baby, this Darryl Jones doesn't sound that much like the Duck Dunn..." It's lost on her. Same/same when she wants yet another Gucci bag and I'm like "huh?"

At this point I'm at 8, both guitar and bass.

1 1989 Music Man Stingary
1 Lakland DJ4
1 Lakland Duck Dunn
1 Geddy Lee Jazz
1 Yamaha BB614
1 PRS CE22 20th Anniversary
1 Joe Strummer Tele
1 Gibson Jumbo Acoustic

***I'm actively eyeing a 1978 Jazz Bass to add to the collection. We'll see.

You didn't ask about amps so I won't go down THAT slippery slope. HA!
